The Major Differences of Server Cabinet, Network Cabinet, Server Rack and Network Rack Debunked

Together with the ever increasing demand of companies for the greatest computing power and space that is needed to run a data center, server cabinet, and network cabinet – these are usually utilized to establish a networking hardware and several assemblies in the data center. Among these equipment, which one is the most suitable for a the need of the company? It is very important to search for one ultimate answer.

The most commonly utilized server rack type is the on with open frame together with the mounting rails. However, this comes with no sides or even doors. It can be easily applied to conveniently accommodate some equipment like servers, monitors, or storage. The server racks can come in several shapes and sizes.

The size of the width of the server rack will always stay the same. It comes with the standard or the traditional size of 19 inches. It also has a height and depth that can also be different. Besides, this server rack has two basic types: the 2-post and 4-post rack.

With this in mind, a network rack is very similar to the server rack when it come to its shape and sizes. These are called relay rack or the open rack. Its metal frame chassis can effectively hold, stack, secure, and protect different interconnected computer networks. As well as the server hardware devices.

In line with this, there are many advantages when it comes to server and network racks:

  1. Improved Air Flow inside the rack – the server rack is designed to be an open structure that has no doors. Which makes provision for abundant and unobstructed airflow to help the equipment to cool down.
  2. Very good for cable management – ever since the server rack can give just enough open space and easy accessibility, it is more convenient for the engineers to install and manage just a few hundreds or event thousands worth of devices and cables inside the open rack.

However, there are some serious disadvantages given its good advantages. Here are the cons for server and network rack:

  1. Not secured access – any personnel can gain access to the network or server rack. This is the very reason why the equipment inside the rack lacks security.
  2. High exposure to dust – the equipment is installed on the rack and has the high tendency to be fully exposed to dust, debris and other possible contaminants. With exposure to these elements, it has the possibility to acquire damage over time.

What Portable Server Racks Are Perfect to be Used for Extreme Conditions?

I believe this has already happened to majority of us: you have purchased a product that you really want for the longest time and you have been patiently waiting for it to arrive for days – or even weeks. When the product finally arrived it looks like a prop from the first few seconds of the show Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

Even if it is very entertaining to watch (both in movies and in real life scenario) I am pretty confident that there can only be a handful of people who will truly appreciate seeing a product that was treated so poorly. Either by the delivery man or order fulfillment warehouse or anything that is uncontrollable in nature. These people are the responsible ones for holding out everything and stretching their smile very wickedly while they stretch their hands to readily accept your cash for the replacement of the product they are holding.

The majority of the technical savvy people are way so far behind trusting a $5 worth corrugated box to protect their product from unexpected damages – especially IT equipment products. And instead of utilizing a shock-absorbent rackmount shipping boxes when they are shipping out their servers, they just use other sensitive pieces of gear from one company to the other.

There are companies that are proud to say that they are the best distributor of a product used for shipment. They are at par with the military and commercial grade quality of cases. These cases also have the slide-out removable racks!

The rail system of these removable racks have their system slides right out, together with their file cabinet-style system. This mechanism allows you to have fuller and most complete access to your equipment inside the case. It also makes the installation and wiring of the equipment easy. These cases meet the best ATA specs for cases and they have very amazing Million Mile warranty. They also ship free just by using standard methods.

Also, you can check out some of the companies’ all-purpose transport cases as well. They are greatly utilized for some of the trade show displays and they can also be used for musicians’ gear and equipment – gear, laptops, and almost everything else.

Customization of Electronics Enclosure: Machining Seems Like a Scrapbooking Method

My boyfriend and I are always making sure that we celebrate anniversaries in the best & most fashionable way, with that in mind, it is our anniversary next week. For this year’s celebration, I tried putting together all our memorabilia in a scrapbook for our moments last year. This is the biggest dates that we celebrate yearly and for this year we went to a steakhouse. It is one of those places that they regularly print their menu in a daily basis.

With this in mind, I was able to keep our menu and I used the last year’s menu for our yearly scrapbooking. I cut out the items that we ordered from the menu. I have to glue for each of the description on a very fancy scrapbook paper. This might sound a lot of work, but it is a nice keep sake. However, getting each of the proper descriptions on a proper line up was very frustrating. Especially if each one of of the descriptions came in a different size.

This is like having the different cutouts machined differently on the base to effectively cover on the plastic electronics enclosure. Several companies have already tried to machine the enclosure in house. Together with the CNC machining process, there will be precised cutouts one each of the component (example: the base and cover) and in theory, they should be able to properly line up. However, if just one piece of a certain product is just even a couple of millimeters off, a design engineer will not be able to line up the holes especially if the enclosure is already assembled.

Your electronics equipment will not properly fit inside the enclosure, and also, the entire piece will be totally discarded. Without having the proper electronics equipment, the attempt to properly machine these enclosures and combine them with one complete unit can cause an unexpected slippage and compression. Which in return, would also cause several holes to not line up effectively. Now, this should take into account that there are companies that offers CNC machining not just a drill press. Drill Press will always have the tendency to produce very uneven holes.

However, there are companies that utilizes advanced machining techniques in order to produce the right product specific guides that allows them to properly machine an enclosure as one entire unit. Ensuring that the placement of the equipment inside the enclosure are of the same size and measurement. Also, this is not the only most precise method of machining that is widely available. This is also the most efficient and cost effective method. This is the very reason why companies are able to pass along the cost savings to its customers because of the low cost.
